Gaga Lomidze

Gaga Lomidze is a Georgian literary scholar, editor and translator.

He is an Associate Professor at Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Since 2006 he is a head of the Department of Literary Theory and Comparative Studies at Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature. From 2012 to 2020 he wasa President of the Georgian Comparative Literature Association (GCLA).

The major field of Gaga Lomidze’s scientific interest includes literary theory, comparative literary studies in a broad cultural context; analysis of various literary movements, literary schools, etc. He is an author of several books (including translated research books) anddozens of scientific articles, including: Renaissance by Peter Burke (Lega, 2000), Culture and Discontinuity by Yuri Lotman (Ena da Kultura, 2004), Comments to Zaza Burchuladze’s novel “Gospel According to Donkey” (Logos Press, 2005), Lectures by Merab Mamardashvili (Center for Strategic Development, 2012), Unpredictable Mechanisms in Culture by Yuri Lotman (Mtsignobari, 2016), Total Art of Stalinism by Boris Groys (Mtsignobari, 2017), Iconography of Power by Victoria Bonnel (Mtsignobari, 2019), 33 Tales of Georgian Book (Georgian Publishers and Booksellers Association, 2018). He is also an editor of Gagarin Generation. Six Georgian Poets (New Voices from Europe and Beyond) (ArcPublications, London, 2016).
