Levan Bregadze

Levan Bregadze is a distinguished Georgian literary critic, writer, journalist, and translator. He has held various significant roles in academia and publishing, contributing extensively to the study and promotion of Georgian literature. As a chief researcher he works at TSU Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature since 2010. He is chief editor of the Journal of the Gelati Academy of Sciences (since 2011).

His areas of expertise includes: Literary criticism, history and theory of literature, history and theory of journalism, theory and practice of translation, linguistics, folklore, aesthetics.

Levan Bregadze published his monographs: Journey through the pages of 'Kaukazishe Post (2010); Existential Beliefs-Perceptions (2012); Journey through the Pages of 'Lekoka Ziliustre' (2013); Postmodernism in Georgian Literature (2020). He is an author-compiler of the dictionary of Georgian slang (1999, 2005, 2013);Collections of literary-critical letters: "Stories on Literature" (2008, 2019); Literary (Investigation) (2011); We Read Classics" (2014, co-authored by T. Doiashvili); Translation and Original (2014), among others.

Recipient of prestigious literary prizes, including the Vazha-Pshavela Prize (1993), Saba (2003, 2009, 2012), Saguramo (2007), Givi Gachechiladze Prize (2012), and Akaki Tsereteli Prize (2017). In 2016, he was honored with an honorary certificate from the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia for his outstanding contributions to literature.
